I won't go into specifics or say names.

Recently I was told I would get some equipment to help me with my diabetes. 2 months later I went back hoping it was there. The partner doctor of who I saw said I couldn't have it as the nhs doesn't give it out even though the more senior doctor had said I could have it. I am massively disappointment as this was going to help me so much. Now I have only two options applying for funding or self funding(which I can hardly afford). Anyone been promised something then let down by doctors?

I will say I did get the senior doctor to double say it in the original consultation I still could have got the wrong end of the stick but in not sure how I would have

Yeh I am due to problem is its 3 month wait each appointment. I only got the next one because I kicked up a fuse. I am pestering his secretary as the second doctor said he would talk to my original doctor about my concerns. I feel if I don't pester the next appointment will come around and I'll be waiting more

Diabetes.co.uk seem to send me a lot of eMails offering free BG Meters. As a type II you will probably have to pay for the strips and from what I've seen, about £9.50 seems to be the cost of 50 strips for a lot of the meters available.
Seems like the two doctors at your practice don't talk to each other.
Have a look at http://www.diabetes.co.uk/diabetes_care/blood_glucose_monitor_guide.html. Also, somebody posted a really good test strip price comparison chart, but I can't remember who or what thread. Sometimes the manufacturers give them out for free as a sort of "lost leader". After all, once you have their machine you have to buy their strips. Probably best to make sure that any free meter that you might get has test strips in the £9 - £10 for 50 range. The vast majority of test strips seem to be in that range.

Ah yes apologises there I am a type one on a omi pod. Your spot on about them not talking though. It's frustrating as what I need could change loads of problems I have and save the nhs loads and increase my well being loads

Unfortunately it quite often seems like its really up to the doctor so hopefully at.your next appointment he will give you what he promised you.
