Have You Had Lumps On Your Skin?

Last Night I Was Injecting Humalog And I Had Alot Of Pain. After A Few Minutes A Had A Lump. I Know About Getting Lumps Inside Your Skin But I Had A Big Hard Lump On The OUTSIDE Of My Skin  After About 30 Minutes It Went Away, However I Can Now Feel The Lump Inside. My Dad Said To Me "Maybe It Wasn't In Far Enough, So Its The Same As A Lump Inside But It's Further To The Surface." I Know To Spread Out Where I Do My Injections, And I Often Do. I Also Considered That It Was Taking Time For The Insulin To Spread Out. My Name Is Emma, Im 10 Years Old And I Was Wondering If This Has Ever Happened To You. Thanks! :D

I had this exactly the same last night in my thigh. Never had it before but my wife done the injection and it was REALLY painful lol ! I thought it may have been a faulty needle or something so changed it and then it was OK. I had a large lump after, like an insect bite. I use 4mm needles. Made me nervous doing my next jab though lol !

I've had this a few times over the years. Spoke to doctor about it and though he explained that it is because the insulin collects in the injection site he couldn't explain why. His advise was to rub the lump until it disappears as otherwise the insulin will be absorbed at a different and unpredictable rate. I found it quite painful to do.

Hi All .

Were your 'lumps' pink or red in colour ?
Warm to touch and swelled up later ?

If they were - it may be possible they were 'lipos' inflammation of injection site
Please check this with your own GP/DSN though if you suspect this .

I had this with levemir/lanctus we eventually worked out I was allergic to the preservatives
in the human insulin.
Hence my swap over to hypurin porcine animal insulin .
Never had this since the change over of insulin with myself.

Mine were painful both inside and outside of the skin .
Red in colour and hot to touch , raised circular welts spreading over injection site areas .
Even bending over or rubbing on clothes was painful .
[I use the 5mm needles]

Hope this can help.

Anna.
