That's a pretty good deal on the Accu Chek, Graham. You should go into business on Ebay. :D

Check out this entry on "evergreening" from Scott Strumello's excellent blog. There's an estimated 900% markup on the manufacturing cost of test strips.

Stay out of trouble,
timo.

Thanks for the link Timo, my intrepid Duck code name 00Q special agent with the D.I.A. came up with the same as phoenix ( get a duck phoenix much easier). I pulled this quote out which says a lot about the money involved

The US market for diabetic patient monitoring systems is expected to reach $9.1 Billion by 2010. Current market leader Roche Diagnostics makes a whopping $1Billion gross annual profit from its diabetes division alone, with the majority of that money coming from disposable supplies like test strips.

Keeping out of trouble at the darkside of diabetes were we have cookies  .

I am sorely tempted to put in a bid on the ALF alarm clock.

Credit where credit's due, Graham, our Mr Roche knows how to lovingly milk a cash cow.

Your too late I already bought the ALF alarm clock, I think we could come to some arrangement if you wish to purchase it off me though,I need to fund my strips somehow

As for Mr Roche give the guy a break, it's Mr Kellog thats the problem he provides the customers :x

If i didnt have insurance which covers my diabetic supplies i would use ebay, at over 1 euro per strip it adds up, yeah its not cheap, neither is the insurance, but not everywhere has an NHS.

But on the flip side I do agree, people shouldnt profit from their condition, the amount of money wasted from people taking extra supplies could go on research making things better for us.
