Having a rough time

Hi all

Just looking for some tea & sympathy.

I've had a cold/cough for a month, just when I think it's drying up it comes back. Feel tired rather than ill, bs not bad considering, but I'm fed up with coughing and blowing my nose. Its embarrassing at work because it sounds worse than I feel. People keep telling me it's ok if I need time off, but if I don't work I don't get paid.

On Thursday I learned that my job (which I really enjoy) is at risk.

I have trigger finger (probably - seeing a specialist in March). Was just the one finger, but now another seems to be going the same way. Which has implications relating to work.

'Monthlies' started today. 9 weeks since the last lot, I shouldn't really complain, but why couldn't it wait till the cough/cold has gone?

My aunt is gravely ill and in pain. Mum is upset and worried that uncle (mum's brother) won't last long without aunt. So I'm worrying about aunt, uncle and mum. Aunt and uncle live abroad, so popping over to see them isn' t feasible. Not that I'd want to pass on any bugs anyway.

12-16 Feb is usually a difficult time for me but this year is worse than most. I hope it's not going to be one of those years.

I know others are dealing with worse problems, but could someone spare me a hug?

Sue

((((((((((HUGZ)))))))))))))))) sorry to hear your having a bad time, I think we have to bear these traits of life I'm afraid.

Hi Sue,

Sorry you are having a rough time. I hope things get better for you.

Hi Sue

Just sending you a string of ((((((huggles))))) and letting you know there are lots of us thinking of you. :)

Lots of ((((((hugs)))))) coming your way Sue, if your cold has lasted that long i'd go and get it checked out.
I suffer badly with hayfever and allergies, and it could be one of those, even at this time of year(pollen from trees starts my HF off in Feb/Mar. If i leave an allergy/hayfever left untreated it leaves me physically and emotionally drained, and as if i have a constant cold, sneezing and runny nose.
Take care ((hugs)),

After boasting at the start of the year that I hadn't had a cold for two years and that it was down to 1000mg of Vit c per day I took an absolute stonker of a cold.......serves me right :x ........but I still have the remnants of it and it made me feel yuk for ages (ok now) so I empathise with you. The rest unfortunately always happens when you feel a bit low!.. :( .......loads of (((((hugs)))))......while other things might stay the same you will feel more able to cope when you feel a bit better! ♥

Hope the morning makes things seem a bit brighter.
Not very good at wording this type of post, but lots of thoughts and hugs coming your way.

Sue

That all sounds so stressful You have good wishes for a quick improvement. If you can shake the cold, you'll feel stronger to handle the rest. Have you seen the doctor? A cold shouldn't last that long. 2 weeks is usual. It could just be cattarrh. They may be able to help with that. I find the combination of an antihistamine(a non drowsy one) and aspirin helps a lot.
That's how I'm treating the cold my granddaughter has just given me.

((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))))))), hope you soon feel better soon :D

Thanks for the hugs, guys. Feeling a bit brigher today.

Hana - I'm taking regular paracetamol and a daily antihistamine. A pharmacist suggeted this combination when I queried what I can/can't take. Hope your cold doesn't drag on like mine.

Trying to be careful, using tissues and binning them, washing hands frequently, disinfecting worktops and doorhandles, washing clothes if I've coughed into the sleeve, etc etc. I'm not a patient patient though. Overall I'm probably better than 2 weeks ago, but more fed up. As you know, I work in a hospital and some patients have had a cold that won't go, so its probably a virus going round, along with 'viral blues'. I will get checked out though if it continues - working in a chest clinic I could see the experts as a 'walk in'.

Lots of hugs from me too Sue!! Glad to hear you are feeling a little better! I know what it's like to have a cold hanging around for so long! Unfortunately I can't offer medical advice: I guess it just needs time to work its way out.

But I CAN offer a shoulder to cry on, and a ear to listen.

Wish you well.
Janet

Thanks Janet.

Even without the cold, I may well need a shoulder and ear to rant at depending how the other things go. I have people on my side at work but not sure how much influence they will have. Common sense seems to be lacking higher up the chain of command.

Not much I can do about auntie but its horrible for her to be suffering so and uncle and other loved ones having to watch her suffer. Lost someone very close to me a few years ago (although totally different circumstances) and things like this bring back the memories.

Hi Sue
I know when I'm feeling ill, I feel like the world is caving in on me,and negative thoughts follow about every aspect of my life, even things I can normally cope with. Hopefully when You're feeling better & brighter things won't seem so bad. Here's a wee hug and a smile (( :) )) meanwhile.
