I am fed up today for no specific reason really. Fed up trying to keep bg down, but take steroids so never win, apart from fasting , normally in the 5s. Happy bunny then.

Take the dreaded steroids and brekkie, and the fun begins!!!! They go up to 10 by lunch, inject my novo mix 30 8 units, eat a small lunch, then by teatime 10 again. Gets better and lower as evening progresses, happy bunny again!!!!

I'm just moaning , don't normally, but a terrible bad day mood wise. I do apologize if I sound sorry for myself. This D type2 really gets to me sometimes, especially when I try so very hard. I am following lchf and I have lost a stone in weight and over the moon ...Hope that continues, another stone to go.

I worry about complications with my blood always being high.
Any way greetin and wailing finished. Sorry folks, but everyone is so supportive on this forum. Love it, learning so much.

oh dear @fred1234 you sound as though you're having a real, sad, sorry Sunday. I hope you feel happier as the evening progresses. :)

Novomix is meant to be injected 30 mins before you eat breakfast and again 30 mins before your evening meal. Perhaps that's why your numbers are so high at lunchtime.

If the above suggestion doesn't help, can you ask about making a tiny increase to your insulin doses? As you say, its important to stay under 7.8 to avoid complications.

II speak to dn every week with 3 days records of 6 x daily testing. It was dn who suggested lunch time injection after reducing insulin from 10 units to 8 units daily. I was experiencing bother with the morning injection as couldn't get bloods to rise enough....was instructed to test inject and eat.....Never been told to wait before!!! I find the whole thing confusing. When first diagnose d I was on 2 injections per day, but managed to get steroids reduced , lost weight so novo mix was decreased as to 8 units

That's great that you are speaking with them so often. Do you have a shared goal of getting your BGs under 7.8 at all times? Have you discussed whether a different insulin regime would be better, ie basal/bolus MDI with carb counting instead of using mixed insulin?

Diabetic nurse says so difficult because of other treatments I.e steroids daily maintenance dose to keep b.s. down to a reasonable level. I try so hard myself being vigilant 're eating, nearly starve myself to strive to get it right!!!! I am due to see diabetic cons next month and i was going to discuss May be bolus/basal or something else cos I'm struggling.I should be size zero by now lol!!!! Have great relationship with hospital diabetic team. Also diabetic reg on call if required in urgency. Thank goodness never needed to call. Also due to see diabetic nurse at gp practice for first time next month so will see how that pans out. I have to admit to great terror and fear of bolals/basal regime. Seems complicated...always read the posts here on this fab site...every time I see bolass/basal queries have palpitations and cold sweats!!!! Lol
