Hi everyone im 34 weeks pregnant with gestional diabetes from early in.amd been in insulin from 20 weeks and 1 metformin at tea time. I had a section with my last baby due to her beimg breech, so had a vbac appointment, see the diabetic team and have my own comsultant but im getting mixed advice on whens best to have baby. Does anyone have any experinece with this and no when i should be having him? Tia

Hi @Emalou I think generally most diabetic ladies are told around 38 weeks is when you will be induced unless their are other problems etc obviously everyone is different, some of the ladies on here have had theirs at 35w and some at 39w, what are your team saying? X

The midwife at my vbac appointment said i would be induced at 38 weeks but as ive had a section would only be allowed 1 pessary, so i wasent a very good candidate for a vbac so i decided on a section and was told that would be at 38 weeks, my consultant isint the diabetic consultant and when he was off the registra booked me in for 39+3 the hospital only do sections on a thursday. When i next had my diabetic appointment they said i need to have baby at 38 weeks, and i was to speak to my consultant about it. Now the week before when i will be 38+3 is full so he said 39+3 is fine as long as its before 40 weeks its ok. So today saw diabetic team again and they said no it should be before 39 weeks. Im so stressed out with it all and dont really no what im suppose to do x

Hi don't get stressed! I was told with my twins I would be booked in between 38 and 39 for section but they decided to bring them out at 35 so never got there. I'm sure if they were really concerned you would be booked in early. Can your diabetes consultant speak to your OB?

The diabetic team seem concerned im not having baby before 39 weeks but my consultant is happy as long as its before 40 weeks. They keep telling me to speak to him dont no what they expect me to do i dont bloody work there or have a medicL degree!! Told them to speak to diabetic consultant who can then speak to mine, im back there next monday so will hopefully get a better idea as to what there doing. Xx

Defo don't get stressed.....easier said than done, I know that for a fact....I was originally being induced at 37 weeks.....I think it does depend on where you live and the hospitals etc...but they won't do anything unless they feel they really need to! Just badger all the health care professionals until you get an answer...good luck! x

Yea i will do thankyou for replys, think it because they only do sections on a thursday and only do 3 on that day so if week before is booked up its booked up. Xx

It sounds crazy that they only do sections on a Thursday? I don't think I've ever heard that before - not that I'm an expert, but what if someone needed an emergency one? Xx

Yea if its an emergency they do them its just maternity only have thursdays for planned sections and they can only do 3 on the day. Xx
