having problems testing.

Hi Merry christmas to every one. I was trying to do my bloods just after i got up and it took me quite a few attempts i finally got a result on the fifth attempt.
The meter I'm using is aviva nano I only started checking blood glugose on the15/12/12 as I was only diagnosed in August. I'd used the ten free strips and baught new ones yesterday. Is this normal as I pay for my strips and feel they are a tad expensive to go wrong like that. There was enough blood from me
Looked like I'd slashed something rather than pricked a finger lol.

Sometimes you get a dodgy strip, I have in the past had a whole dodgy drum of strips (but only once). Make sure next time that you test, wash and dry your hands, have a good drop of blood and give the strip plenty of time to absorb the blood. My Accuchek sometimes takes a while to register the blood. If the next test you take goes funny then you should complain to Accucheck customer services I am sure they would send you a replacement drum.

Thanks for your help. I Did wash my hands but I said to my husband when you take them out of the container you can't help but touch the part that the blood goes on. Maybe this is causing the strip to fail I will contact accu chek thanks.

Jamby,

No it is not your finger affecting the strips when you take them out. The test end is covered with
a layer of almost undetectable plastic - the blood is drawn INTO the strip by capilliary action.

Good luck,

Rob
