My bariatric surgeon noticed how much weight I lost since signing up for surgery. I told him honestly that my endocrologist doesn't like my 'fad' diet so I followed educator and endo's advice via various dieticians and only the bariatric dieticians supported my low carb way of eating which did have occasional low fat cheese and mixed nuts in it.
My supportive dietician attached to bariatric team agreed 20g carb is ok.
So I'm losing weight again.
Low carb without cheese and nuts works very very well for me but not sure I could sustain such a restrictive diet, very long term without surgery and nhs monitoring.
Ham, bacon, eggs and the odd protein slice of bread. Low fat cottage cheese and low fat plain Greek yogarts with berries.
Sausages, well 2 max. Scrambled eggs, mushrooms and peas ( a few peas).
Mixed grill with beef no chips or hash browns or onion rings and definitely no bread or toast.
High protein gives me satiety.
After op I won't need much to fill my eggcup sized stomach. A bit of everything but not high carb or high fat.
I cannot wait to write up on the relevant thread about 'what have you eaten today? '.
My new stomach will be only given good food. Not high carb rubbish. It would be abuse after all the work.
Ok it may look like mush at first but my stomach needs TLC going forward.
At least thanks to this forum I know what MY system needs.
I'm just really lucky the nhs can provide a solution which matches some of my health needs but a solution to 'out of hand' insulin resistance and obesity.
I accept I won't be cured by op and low carb but I'm confident it will be far easier to manage using ALL the tools available to combat IR and obesity. At last.
Who can object to that?
There's bound to be some ignorant know it all. Except they don't know my needs. They have read somewhere it's unhealthy or it can go wrong.
Diabetes care of course can go wrong, for anyone. It would be very bad luck but not due to ignorance, at least.
At least i died trying rather than just waited to get bedbound.
Which Dr or family member can object?
My uncle did ask me to be careful. He ment not being gung-ho. To check everything thoroughly.
Which I have.
The proof is in the eating. Literally!
