Hello

So I was diagnosed in July with a result of 7.2% which was 57 mmol. Today I've been told I'm prediabetic at 6.0% according to hb1ac. So that's 42 mmol

She's a doctor pharmacist but she didn't explain it what it means
I was taking the Normal Metformin but it made me so sick I had to stop. Taking prolonged version once a day now for a month and the result is amazing.

Can anyone explain the results to me please? If I continue like this can I come off the meds?

Also as diabetic got told cholesterol should be under 4.0
I thought it was meant to be under 5.0
I'm on border at 4.9
How can I reduce this with diet...I don't want to go on statins

Hi,

7.2% is 55mmol/mol
6% is 42mmol/mol

All it means is that you have managed to reduce your average blood glucose levels to take you out of the diabetic range and in the pre-diabetic range.

41 and under is non-diabetic
42 to 47 is pre-diabetic
48 and over is diabetic.

Although your current levels are in the pre-diabetic range, and only just above the non-diabetic range, you are still diabetic., but a well controlled one. Very well done. :)

It is your decision as to whether you come off Metformin, but you need to take advice from your doctor. Some people prefer to remain on it if they have no side effects as it is thought to have other benefits, but the decision ultimately is yours.

Well done, and would you like to share with us how you have manged to reduce your levels in so short a time?

Honestly I was still stress eating and only in last 3 weeks I've started including celery, beetroot, peppers and olives with lunch and dinner. Limited sugary drinks. But junk food addiction still there.
Had wet cupping sessions. Where they make cuts and draw blood via cupping.
Apple Cider vinegar and black seed oil in water before breakfast but I was lax about doing that every morning.
And sometimes forgot to take my Metformin

So....I'm stumped?!

Given the limited sugary drinks and junk food obsession I think you have done extremely well.

I think revising your diet may have more long term benefit than any amount of wet cupping and may be slightly less painful.:)

Haha the cupping sessions were for my stress and back pain
It helps. If it helps diabetes too it's added bonus... who knows

Did you have this wet cupping fairly soon before your HbA1c test? If so it is likely to have given rise to a lower HbA1c than it would otherwise be. Drawing that amount of blood depletes your red blood cells and haemoglobin, and will most likely be the reason for your lower result.
