I have recently been to the doctors for blood tests because I have been getting tired and fall asleep if I sit down or after food, I'm not sure if this is right but I had a reading of 53 now 1 year later I have a reading of 42 is this a good thing. I had to ask her if she was sure I had type 2 because I know other people that have been diagnosed after me that are already on medication can it be mis-diagnosed?

Hi Dicky

Well an HbA1c of 53 is definitely considered diabetic, but 42 is at the top end of the non-diabetic range so well done you for achieving that drop!

If you are getting tired and falling asleep all the time, that suggests to me a different issue (thyroid perhaps?) which you should discuss with your GP.

did you cut your carbs and reduce weight? it sounds like you pancreas isn't working as hard now. I too would be looking at tiredness from somewhere else, unless you are low carb and not eating enough healthy fats

I have had a thyroid test and i have not really changed diet apart from eating wholemeal bread and cutting sugar from my diet and using sweetener on my breakfast

I would get back to the Dr and explain how you feel, get a blood test and see if he has any ideas. you should be feeling better with your current A1c, as far as the diabetes goes.
so your weight is stable now?

I lost a stone and put 5lb back on so I weigh18 stone now and this blood result is 1 week old I'm 5'10 when I went into hospital for an infection in my neck they tested me every 4 hrs and the nurse asked am I sure I'm diabetic because my readings were perfect so I'm confused I will see the doctor again maybe it's just old age?
