Hba1c 145 Reduced To 62 In Three Months

Wow that is an amazing achievement- well done! In my experience you should have been given an appointment with a DN. I know I’m lucky with my Gp although I had so many appointments and phone calls I felt I was in a runaway train. Keep up the great progress.

If you have managed to get your HbA1c down from 145 to 62 in 3 months then I'm not sure you will learn much from the Desmond course! Well one for that amazing result. Can I ask what you have done so far?

Yep, it all sound like you know what you’re doing and going on a course will probably not help.

I’m tagging @daisy1 for her to post the really helpful newbie basic diabetes information as you’re new here.

I had an unhelpful diabetic nurse, who then retired, and I’m now with the GP who is really helpful because he’s been on a learning curve about a half step behind me, so diet/carb control kicked in before he’d thought about a drug route. He’s happy with what I’m doing as long as I’m happy not eating bread

Congratulations on a great achievement so far. It is always sad to hear about a poor experience with a health care professional. In another 3 months you may be able to have reduced your HbA1c even further and you will have the satisfaction of thinking ' In your face, doctor'.!

Well done AndrewB 2 I was feeling very smug about getting my 126 down to 67 in 3 months and you’ve started higher and finished lower than me, great achievement. As you’re doing better than me I’ll offer no advice other than keep at it

firstly, congratulations weight loss and A1C reductions are taking place, pat yourself on the back, and ignore the lack of praise to your efforts by the Doctor. Well done declining drugs and change lifestyle diet. It obviously has worked well for your body Yes!

Doctors response, cant cure diabetes with Google Search, well, perhaps he /she should update information out there that can be obtained, whether one believes it, or not, there is information provided and normally much more than ones own doctor or surgery provides and this is becoming more daily to see, sadly, with the results of thousands who have searched information from various google zones, that have proved positive by simply doing so, i.e. searching Dr. Google.

Actually, google search lead myself positively to Dr. Jason Fun and Dr. David Cavan respectively, two highly respected world wide Doctors with intense knowledge regards Diabetes overall, raising awareness that environment changes and reviews and outlook of Diabtes should change not in the future, but now right now in best interests of all, their general information has greatly assisted myself in decisions and actions taken from their knowledge, I simply took charge of my own body due to unhelpful medics and professionals, as you exprienced, that ultimately actually did me a favour at the end of the day.

Cure, who knows, but certainly I have gone into remission, reversed numbers had I not searched Google, I would not have come across Dr. Fung or Cavan.

Congratulations @AndrewB 2 fabulous results in a short space of time. Sounds like you are doing all the right things and hopefully you’ll give your doctor a big surprise in 3 months time.

The irony is that the remission statistic is pretty dismal for those who follow mainstream medical guidelines

Wow well done what a great result a congratulatory pat on the back well earnt. Shame about lack of help but tbh any advice you would have been given may not have been helpful if it was based on normal move well eat less and eat low fat mantra at least it annoyed you enough to motivate you to find out the info you needed to get your results! You’re doing great just keep going!

Yes i would have said the same thing"ditch the GP" can't believe a doctor would call you fat and give you pills in the same breath. But hey, your doing incredibly well and she will get to eat those words.

The eye test is a retinal image test, not an eyesight test. It is a requirement that all diabetics are sent for this test once a year. Hopefully your nurse/doctor has sent off a referral, but you need to chase it up with your surgery. With blood sugars as high as yours were it is especially important. Your nurse should also check your feet once a year - that is a pulse check and sensitivity check with a tickling stick.
