Hi and welcome Andrew.Just had my three months check from Wiltshire’s most unhelpful doctor. When she told me I was type 2, it was take these drugs your fat it’s your own fault. I declined the drugs and decided to try and change my diet etc. Her response was you can’t cure diabetes with a Google search. I have managed to lose 2 stone in the last 3 months and reduce my Hba1c from 145 to 62, I know this is not enough, but its going in the right direction. So, I have been given another 3 months by her, I had to ask if the surgery had a diabetes’s nurse, and could she refer me. I have had no advice or help. Is this normal?
I have read about DESMOND on these forums, can I contact my local centre myself, or do I have to be referred.

"CONCLUSIONS In community settings, remission of type 2 diabetes does occur without bariatric surgery, but it is very rare."
http://care.diabetesjournals.org/content/early/2014/09/12/dc14-0874
The 7-year cumulative incidence of partial, complete, or prolonged remission was 1.47% (1.40–1.54%), 0.14% (0.12–0.16%), and 0.007% (0.003–0.020%), respectively.

I'd say ditch your gp. Did she sent you for an eye and foot test?I had to ask if the surgery had a diabetes’s nurse, and could she refer me.
