hba1c 9.1

Dear God - don't know if anyone remembers, but last time I went to clinic (November 2009) my hba1c was 8.8 and the consultant told me he wasn't willing to carry on with my meds if i couldn't take my diabetes seriously. It upset me tremendously, and, with the support of my friends on here, I started a low carb diet. I have been sticking to this and originally, my hba1c started to come down. However, as you can see, my hba1c is now higher, and I am due to go back to clinic tomorrow (and worried sick!). Work has referred me to occupational health and also since February 2010 I have been under threat of redundancy. I have had to increase my insulin doses by huge amounts, but still not managed to bring my bs down under 12!

I have now been made redundant but have been lucky enough to get another job which is really positive, but am feeling incredibly low and worried about clinic tomorrow. My diabetes specialist nurse has retired, so can't take advantage of her support.

Any suggestions? I am considering not going to clinic tomorrow, considering telling him where to stick his meds, ........... :(

Thanks for reading

Carolyn :(

don't give up his attitude sucks which is not your fault you are doing what is asked of you and it doesn't work for you so he should be aiming to find a solution. keep working at it :)

Hi Carolyn, I vaguely remember your older posts, but can't recall how long it was between your tests? It can take a couple of months of any changes made (more insulin/more meds/less carbs) to have a real affect on your Hba1c results. Hang in there!! if you are low carbing then I'm sure you will see a drop after your next test :D
