Hi all ok been at doctors today for review weight loss is slowing but I'm still active guys at the gym said to expect weight gain as the fat goes and muscle comes on. Eating good diet is mainly low carb with some extreme no carb days. So seen the nurse first and she was a right cow( sorry only polite word I can use) went over how I was doing and that I could be losing weight too fast and that low carb not the way to go. We then discussed my levels when I was diagnosed in April as T2 ( I had not seen then before, was a little scared to ask) so my hba1c was 100 then and she said not to get my hopes up that it would have came down much. She was talking up the risks of it coming down to quick being a detached retina ( what a way to scare your patients). So I left her then to see the doctor he was so positive, praising how well I had done, he had my bloods results my hba1c was down to 48 and my glucose fasting was 6.0. So what I'm asking is that a good result and are there any dangers to bringing it down to fast

Next time you go, take a list of all the websites we mention, and tell her to keep up with current thinking.
Well done on your success so far. You are keeping yourself safe.
I would imagine losing control of your diet is more likely to cause a detached retina than keeping your levels even.
Cant you see a different nurse next time, one can only hope she was having a bad day, or she cant wait for retirement. Miserable git.

In my book you in are doing good! Similar negative from my GP yesterday. Hb1Ac in March 137 down to 47 in July don't need to test LCHF not the way to go, lost 3stones. So I am going to go it alone! No support, very little encouragement. Will have blood test and unless I need tox go Imam not going to see him. Just do what you are doing and stay in touch with The Forum that's what I am going to do?

It would have been a good idea to ask your doctor if there were dangers in bringing your blood glucose levels down too fast. Anyway, it's too late now - they're already down.

I agree with @6cats with a similar journey. I lost 4st in 3 months with hba1c down from 97 to 53 (hba1c result after 2 months). I don't trust or LCHF either - but admit I'm more carb conscious than I was.
I can't fault my Practice Nurse she had been brilliant with me and amazed at what I've done ..... She said she wishes more patients would respond as I have!
Do what is right for - YOU!
