Hba1c And Metered Blood Sugar Levels

I am very confused. Yesterday I had a routine appointment at the diabetes clinic during which they checked my blood sugar readings for the last month on my gluco nexus meter and the readings were mostly between 7 and 10 with a few above and a few below. However they also checked my HbA1c which was 37 which apparently is almost low enough to count as prediabetic. The nurse suggested I reduce my evening insulin from 12 to 8 (I take 26 in the morning) but surely that would mean my fasting gluucose will go up? Does anyone have an explanation as to the difference between HbA1c and monitor, or can suggest what I should do about my insulin

There are some things that can falsely lower hba1c - have you been checked for anaemia?

No. Nor was I told that was a possibility so on Tuesday, I will arrange to have a blood test. Thank you
