I have been given a new type of blood test sheet from my DN. It is for an HBA1c test together with a UE test. I’m unsure whether you need to fast for a UE test. Can any advise please?

Do you mean U & Es? It stands for Urea and Electrolyes, which are kidney function tests and usually don’t need you to be fasting. It might be worth double checking with your surgery or clinic beforehand though.

No choleserol or lipids? Unusual not to have them when having HbA1c test. If included, then it is a good idea to fast.

If it is a urine sample then it doesn't need to be fasting but it is supposed to be taken mid flow from the first wee in the morning.

Thank you all. It is definitely a blood test and that is all that has been asked for. I have recently had a full set of blood tests which is probably why just these two tests for later this year.
