I am type 2 , on diet only control. My last 2 HBA1C readings have been 6. something and yet when I do a spot check , the reading is usually 9. something , and thats first thing on waking , it goes up in the day to 11 something .
The question I have is why then does the average reading come out at 6 .something ??
Does anyone else have this situation ?
I have a blood glucose monitor from the Dr surgery fairly new / and my old tester says the same reading , so I know the moniter isnt faulty......
Thanks ,

HBa1C readings are not comparable with averaged meter readings. If you look at this link from the main page to Toolbox you will find a converter.:

I wouldn't worry about trying to work out your average; just wait for your next HBa1C. Use your meter to watch out for peaks 2 hours after a meal and to see which foods affect you most.
