Hi all,

Just a quick question about hba1c. I have another hba1c in 3 weeks. It was 96 beginning of May :/ have since been taking Gliclazide and going to gyn and levels seem to be coming down slowly. Now, this new one in 3 weeks ny doc wants it to be near to 48 as poss. Now Im not the brightest but surely that would be near on impossible as half of those 3 months would be at the old average of 96 :/

I swear I read somewhere that the last 3 weeks before an hba1c is the most influential on the result? Am I making that up? Or have a I actually read that lol if so then I may not be 48 but I will be nearer that than 96!!!!

When i was pregnant my first hba1c of the pregnancy was 10 or more (old times) then after 4 weeks it had dropped to 6.4 after being really strict so is you be really strict with yourself youll get it down :)

Let us know the result. Your last Hba1c could have included some low figures and your new one could be all low figures. We shall see. Your doctor has got your attention though.

Yes!! Well I have been really trying and have had some 6s which is excellent sooo im going to use these next 3 weeks and be really strict as I rwally want to avoid insulin for as long as poss. Thanks for your answers x

Nice one. Not sure how accurate the calculation is, but it should show a trend in the right direction. Try not to feel under pressure to get down low too quickly. I have read on here that a drastic drop may not be good for your eye health. Just do your best and find a healthy lifestyle that will suit you for decades to come.

60 is a heck of a lot better than 90, well done, I think the nurse will let you keep going with what you are doing. it's working for you and it should drop some more by your appointment

Thank you from me too for that calculator, AS...Six months ago I was 49 and I go for my check on Thursday.

I hope so although she said she wants to push ne and wants me to be as near to 48 as poss otherwise she will be putting me onto insulin. Not sure if shes just trying some scare tactics lol but I miggt beg for more time to see how it goes x

Woo hoo, just got my results in 61 which I believe is 7.7?? So happy, that's in about 8-9 weeks. Hopefully that's enough to just stay on the Gliclazide and avoid insulin :D sooo happy, had to share!
