It looks like you are very borderline. If the 7.2 was random and taken not long after eating, then it is normal. The fasting test was very definitely normal. The HbA1c is only 1mmol/l inside the diabetes range. It could mean you are pre-diabetic. Your GP should really do a confirmation test before making a diagnosis. This is the normal procedure with borderline cases.
The HbA1c has an error rate, which I think is something like plus or minus 4%, and also the labs round up or down the actual result. So you could have been 48.4 or 47.5.
