My total cholesterols 6.4 ish and they want me to take statin! I eat Low Carb high protein which may have an impact on that, but I don’t eat fat I’d cut it off. I am not wanting statins as I don’t want the side effects reported, I’ve just about had enough ailments etc…. So consultant Endo suggested an Omega 3, hoping this does something

My total cholesterol was 7.5 when originally diagnosed with T2 and I started on statins then and it's now 4.4. I suspect some of that will be the statins and some will be the diet changes I made. I've not encountered any side effects from the statins but I have read that some people do.

I was on 40 mg statins for years because my type 1 put me at a risk , a couple of years ago my cholesterol was 6.6 ,I read all the stuff about side effects and decided to stop taking them without telling my Dr ,my next test my cholesterol test was 6 and I told the Dr that I had stopped taking the statins he almost twisted my arm to go back on them and I agreed to go on a low dose of 10mg, my test last week came back at 5, doesn't it seem odd that taking less has reduced my cholesterol without any dietary changes .
