HBA1C results - not great

Hi everyone,

I'm T2, currently taking Sitagliptin 100mg once a day, recently changed from Alogliptin as apparently they're not prescribing that in Scotland anymore, why, I don't know. Had my HBA1C results back a few days ago, increased to 68 from 60 on my last test 4 months ago.
During this time I've had a terrible time with my health, had to go to A&E a few weeks ago with horrendous stomach pain, they did a bunch of tests and think it is possibly a stomach ulcer, I'm now waiting to go in for an upper endoscopy in December to see if this is the case or if it's something else. I then started having severe lower abdominal pain right hand side which was checked at a hosp appt, Dr was very concerned and told me I'd need to have a CT scan of entire lower abdomen and ovaries etc. This appt was really quick, it has now been done and I'm waiting for the results.
I've also had 3 separate ECG's, one I wore for 24 hours and I'm back in hosp on Wednesday for yet another ECG, nobody is telling me why I need so many of these done, I don't know if there's possibly something wrong with my heart or not? And, as per usual, all the stress of this has caused my eating to once again go off track, it's my coping mechanism which is hellish in these circumstances.
I've been in such severe pain over the last few weeks and still have no idea what's going on with me, all the while trying to keep my mental health in some kind of check. I turned 50 in January and remember reading some article about how turning 50 was like hitting a brick wall, boy, were they not kidding. I feel like I've hit several just in the last few weeks.
Spoke to DN about 3 weeks ago, she was not remotely interested in any tests, meds etc although I hadn't had these new HBA1C results then, they were actually tested at the hosp last week when I was in for my pre-op (they need to put me under general anaesthetic for the scope), so I guess I'll wait and see if she calls me back. Thanks for listening.

sorry to hear you've not had a good time as of late. its awesome that the ct scan was so quick fingers crossed for the results. I'd ask at the next ecg to see the referral letters which may help to eleviate fears saying that if either of them showed something prior they would of likely let know then there wouldn't be a purpose for another. No News is good news usually :)

Stressing as your aware wont be doing yourself any favours. Is it possible more anxious stressing about stuff?
if so decent resource: https://oxfordhealth.nhs.uk/wp-content/uploads/sites/13/2023/01/Anxiety-moodjuice-guide.pdf the following nhs scotland page has some other information which you may find useful inclusive of self help covering a variety of topics on stress/anxiety: https://www.nhstaysidecdn.scot.nhs....atestReleased&noSaveAs=1&dDocName=PROD_319078 can work through a couple of them at your pace. I found the anxiety one fairly useful.

Have you been given some painkillers if so do they at least take the edge off? :) if not could ask your gp for something that will hopefully help whilst they figure out whats going on and come up with a more perm treatment plan.

best wishes

Thank you for your reply and advice, yes, I'm on strong painkillers just now and my anxiety levels have been super high (lots of medication given for that as well). I'm trying to tell myself that no news is good news, speaking to GP later today for a telephone consult so I'll see if he can help me any further. Thanks again for your reply.
