I had my 3 month check this week, and I dont know what it was last time, but it was high and I was put on SR Metformin 750mg x 2 daily. I am also low carbing and walking 2 miles per day.

My results this time are 5.9 and my Cholesterol is 4.

I cant see my DN yet so can someone let me know if these are good results?

Thanks!

Daz

I had my first result on monday and it was 6.5 and my cholesterol was 5. My DN went into raptures over this, so I guess yours are pretty good . Don't know if it makes a difference because I'm diet controlled only but I know I would be ecstatic with your figures.

Im sure the meds make a big difference Jay but thanks for that info, its made me feel quite pleased with myself.

If you are managing those numbers without meds then you are doing really well

Thats great Daz, congratulations

Metformin can typically reduce bg by between 1 and 2mmol/L but you still need to work to get into the 5's or 6's so well done

Excellent thanks for that Sid, I have been T2 for about 7 months now but was in denial till about 2 months ago and thats when I changed my whole diet and cut out sugars and my favourite coca cola, I think I have been on metformin for almost 3 months so that along with the lower carbs and exercise must be working, I am very pleased with my progress and a lot of this is down to the members and info I have read on here so thanks

As far as I am concerned they are great figures adn if they were mine I would be doing cartwheels

Congratulations all the hard work paid off

Thanks Annie, I have had basically no info from my Doctor or DN about lifestyle, diet etc since being diagnosed, and all I have learned is basically from this site, its given me the knowledge to take care of myself and has given me control, and Im very grateful for that because at the beginning I was very scared, but now I feel I am in charge of my condition and it feels good.

I have also lost a stone in the past month and I feel so much better for it, just another 1 or 2 and I will be sorted. I am starting to feel that I have my life back now and am enjoying it again.

Hi Guys i was on on 500mg x4 a day of metformin and my hba1c was always 6.9 since january I have lost 5stone 6lbs and my hba1c was 5.4 last week. my doc has told me to stop all metformin and he will run anothe hba1c in 12 weeks - he says if I stay below 6 I will remain off metformin. does this mean I am still diabetic but diet controlled? Cholesterol is down from 6.1 to 4.6.

Cheers K

Hi

Yes you are right you are still dabetic and always will be because it is about how your body deals with food intake and how much insulin you produce and things like that. And if you returned to eating the old way your body would not be able to handle it, but you are every well controlled and keeping your BG levels to as low as possible, means yo have the best chance of avoiding complcations in later life.

Well done

Well done Daz!! I had my 3 month check last week, and my results where 6.0, cholesterol 4, triglycides 1.7. I thought this was great, and so did the Dr, but then she said about putting me on Metormin :? . I said why would I go on drugs when my levels are good? So she reluctantly agreed. But when the dr's are complaining about the cost of strips, why waste money putting me on drugs. I would say most diabetics would rather have the strips in my position
