HbA1c

I had a reading of 48 3 weeks ago, 10 months previous to this I was a reading of 41.

I have been low carb for 3 weeks, I have got myself a glucose meter and my readings are in the normal range.

I'm thinking that there may have been a hiccup with the reading 3 weeks ago.

What are people's thoughts on this?

Regards.

HbA1c averages over the last 3 months with emphasis on the last 6 weeks.
So not related to your readings over the last 3 weeks after you have taken the test.
It is quite possible that switching to low carb has brought your BG down, which could be very good news.
Keep up the good work and ask for another test in 3 months time.
If you maintain your normal readings then you should see a better HbA1c.

However, when are you testing and how often?
Finger prick tests show an instant in the 24 hour day.
HbA1c gives an average over day and night.
It is not always possible to predict HbA1c from finger prick tests.

Latest HbA1c dated 04/06/21 - 39.

Previous HbA1c dated 29/04/21 - 48.

I have also lost 15lbs, this was achieved through low carb diet, I am pleased with the result.
