Hi,
Just got my latest hba1c result....7.4 :-) pleased with that considering my last one was 10... although I have had to keep upping my insulin and still getting morning readings of between 8 & 9.
My 2hr after meals is between 10.0 and 14.0 so am very surprised. ;-)

Still upset with my Specialist Nurse though...left a message as arranged last Friday, and she still has not bothered to call. It is not the first time she has let me down. I will have to discuss with my GP after Christmas.

But all in all I am very pleased...perhaps my next one in 3 months may be even lower.:-D

Well done Mervyn. I went for the results of my HbA1c this morning to be told they were not good at 10.2, I take 2 x 850mg Metformin daily and do try and look after myself. Since first diagnosed in March 2010 I have lost 2 stone in weight but this has proved to be not enough. My colesterol is 5.9.
The GP has added Glynyxlicide (probably not spelt correctly) to my metformin which scares me as a side effect is weight gain!! and this really scares me. I'm having difficulty thinking that things can get better only worse and not better. Sorry, feeling very sorry for myself. Does anyone have any advice or reassurances being on similar medication. A very unhappy and sad Angie x.

Well done for losing 2 stone!!!! that is more than I have ever lost!!
You will be ok just think positive....just think that it can only get better, I was feeling really down as I was thinking that my BG was too high and yet my HbA1c proves that I have been wrong!! although my bloods are still high I now have renewed energy to get them better. You have done really well to have lost that weight!!!!! Just think positive and I am sure everything will work out !! :) xxx

Hi,
Had my lastest HbA1c result begining of Dec came back at 5.7% down from 7% when diag end of June.

Metformin SR 500mg x1 daily.

In six months
Fasting glucose from 8.6 to 6.2
Cholesterol 4.6
HDL 2.4 to 1.2
Blood presure 155/86 to 124/78

Lost just over a stone in weight.
Just hoping my GP will be happy with this as all he goes on about is my weight!!!
Tried so hard over last six months have up days and down days like everyone.

Hi Taimai

You will need to keep an eye on your HDL to ensure that it does not fall any further. Below 1 is too low in most circumstances.

Hi Oside,
Thanks for the info about my HDL, I do not go back to see my Doctor until second week in Feb '12, so shall ask him about it!

I hope you had a good Xmas and I wish you a great New Year.

Regards

Tiamai.

If you look at
http://www.diabetes.co.uk/hba1c-to-blood-sugar-level-converter.html
you will see that an HbA1c of 7.4 equates to a BG level of 10.4.

This proves that the test is showing the proper results. :)

Well done for getting it down from 10!

Not far to go to get it below the magic 7.

Cheers
