Hi! That's your HbA1c in the new "IFCC" units. That equates to 6.5% in the old units we're more used to. A good result so well done! By the way, despite what some practices tell you, you don't need to fast for an HbA1C test as it looks at your average sugar levels over last few months. Of course, if you're having other tests at the same time, you may need to fast.

Re: HB1AC

Well I am going to assume from your thread title that's a IFCC HbA1c reading (and not a mmol/l meter reading) which converts to around 6.5% in old money. The HbA1c is a test that is used to determine blood glucose control over a 8 - 12 week period to show how well your diabetes is or isn't controlled. At 6.5% you would be considered borderline diabetic and its a pretty good result.

Hi Kathy,

I just wanted to say a huge well done on losing the weight  I have lost two stone in the last nine months but that has mainly been due to hospital food :) Any tips you can pass on? Were you on a particular diet or just cutting down?
