I have been able to main my HbA1c at 38 mmol. Do members think it is OK to now have it checked, say, every six months?

Have been at this level for at least eight months.

That's the recommended frequency but I find I can predict my hba1c these days with reasonable accuracy based on my finger prick testing.

I'm interested to know approx based on my finger testing what my HbA1c would equate too.My last HbA1c was 59 but my finger testing is now 6_8.6 now...Will my HbA1c be lower now ??My next official test is mid Jan.

At my 3 month test after diagnosis my GP told me I wouldn't need to be tested for 12 months as my HbAic was down to 44.
Actually I would prefer to be tested more regularly.

My last one was 43 and I have been told I am in a 12 month repeat test.

My doctor has been very supportive in arranging 3-monthly blood tests.

Happy to have half-yearly, but I personally think yearly is way too long.

@flossymartin that isn't enough information. You meter will be able to give you a 7 or 30 day average. This will help. There is then a convertor on the site that will allow you to estimate.

Every 6 months is fine as long as you are happy. I book myself in every 3 months just to keep an eye on things as I no longer test as frequently as I used to. If you test quite frequently throughout the day using the average on your meter is actually pretty accurate. Going by the average on my meter I predicted my last Hb result would be 35 and it was actually 34 so it was pretty close.
