You sound a little like you're trying to bargain on your husband's behalf. I've already given you this link before, but here it is again: https://josekalsbeek.blogspot.com/2019/11/the-nutritional-thingy.html He has options. Cut the carbs, and yes, that does mean bread, spuds, rice, all of it. He can cut back on the carbs a little and have a little medication, try and find an equilibrium, adjusting both as he goes along over the years. Or he can keep eating that stuff, the T2 will be progressive, and he will need ever increasing amounts of medication, eventually in all likelihood insulin, and he'll suffer complications and quite likely, an early death. That's the ugly truth of it. The thing is, his numbers aren't that bad, NOW... I know I came back from worse. But T2 is a progressive condition unless you tackle diet first and foremost. Without that element, he'll get worse. No bargaining about that. How precious is his bread to him? More beloved than his legs, kidneys, eyesight? Life? That's basically the reality of T2. Change the diet and don't need medication. Change the diet a little and only need a little medication (with slight progression if any), or let medication do all the work and just... Deteriorate. I'm so sorry. There's no easy way to bring this, it's a harsh thing to have to hear, I know... But it's a reality we all live with here. Hugs to you both, Jo
