Headache

Recently diagnosed and had my first day back at work yesterday. Unfortunately I've spent all today in bed with a banging headache.

What am I looking at in terms of time for things to settle down? Am sick of the phrases 'it's different for everyone' 'it's all about the individual'. I get that but it would he good to have something a bit firmer and more reassuring.

I need to get back to work ASAP.

Depends on the type of job etc. when diagnosed I was pulled off my offshore rotation and put in the office. As far as working environments go it's "safe" so I was back at work in 1 week.

If you're job is physical or requires you to deal with customers or be on your feet etc you may require more time off to learn how to adapt your insulin regime to your work requirements

I went back into work a week after coming out of hospital. I did find it difficult not to constantly think about things and not sure how well I was doing my job but as Hale1970 says I was also in a safe office environment.
I think I would have been worse being at home and dwelling on things.
The routine of work did help and make things feel a little bit normal but it took me about 2 months to really get back into things properly

I should point out that I wasn't admitted to hospital at all as I didn't have DKA at diagnosis. In fact I barely felt ill. So if you have had DKA it may take longer to bring yourself to a point where working is possible

Cheers for the advice. I'm an English teacher so stressful job, on feet dealing with horrible kids, I mean, customers.

Need to try and get back ASAP but I'm realistic. I know there will be times when it's probably worse for me Andre pupils that I'm in.

Tough job then! Is there scope to go back part time for maybe a week? Ease in before taking on your full load?

School have been supportive and when I'm not in there are cover supervisors that can fill in. If it was to be an official part time timetable that gets a bit iffy because of contracted hours etc.

Literally jt's have to take each day as it comes. Yesterday was a bad day. Today I feel much better and am currently marking. Will see how it goes.
