Hi all I've been diabetic for two years now was on Metformin was working to start with but now recently just started on linagliptin and wanting to anyone's experience if on them or not and any symptoms associated with my new tablets any advice or help would be gratefully appreciated.

Hi @Kirsty lovely moore,,

Linagliptin can cause side effects in some.
it is always best practice to speak to your GP, about them, so that if you need to keep taking meds, there are always alternatives.

I am on another gliptin. The drug is used to increase first phase insulin response to reduce the spike in your blood glucose levels after food. This with T2s is usually probably because of increasing insulin resistance over time. The main culprits for spiking are carbs and sugars. Did you try a reduction in carbs when first diagnosed?

best wishes.

Hi thank you yes I was told to not have too many carbohydrates but I eat normally but less now each time my eating has curved itself and I am losing weight.
