Health issues and HBA1C

Hi everyone,

Just had results back from latest HBA1C, down from 60 to 58 (honestly don't know how as my diet has been awful) and cholesterol down from 6.3 to 5.7, again don't know how. I've had very bad breathing problems for the past few weeks, GP actually sent me to A&E 3 weeks ago they were so bad, he suspected a blood clot which thankfully it wasn't but Dr in hospital doesn't know what it is. I'm going for lung function tests on Dec 9 so hopefully they'll give some indication, nurse has given me an inhaler but it doesn't help. Could a slight drop in my HBA1C be due to other health issues? I'm happy with the slight drop but don't know how it's happened. Seeing DN next week so it'll be interesting to see what she says.

Hi @Maggie75
A drop of 2 from 60 to 58 isn't much of a drop - barely outside the margin for error.
Can you give an example of your 'awful' diet. If you can eat more meat or fish or eggs and less bread, rice, pasta, potatoes, grains; then that alone is likely to reduce your HbA1C, weight (if overweight), Blood pressure (if its high) and even LDL Cholesterol (unless you are slim) and triglycerides and also raise you HDL. These all drastically reduce your overall cardiovascular risk as well as reducing the risk of Diabetes complications.
