I have type 1 and often I can feel my heart beating out of time, or like missing one beat, and kind of beating funny, its hard to explain, and it only is so often but could the two things be linked? Also.. what is that? and what should I do about it?

Hi there, I have this when my sugar is either low or high.I went to the doctors a few months ago (before I knew I was diabetic) with chest pain on exercise and at other times and frequent palpitations, was told I had a heart murmur by the Cardiologist who referred me for an Echocardiogram which I havent had yet.I believe that diabetes can lead to heart problems, so it is probably better to go and get this checked out to be on the safe side x

I suggest you consult your GP as soon as you can and ask to be referred to a cardiologist again PDQ.

Any kind of arrhythmia should be investigated without delay so at least a treatment plan can be put into place.

I suffer with AF (atrial fibrillation, a form of arrhythmia) and with the right treatment it is not a problem for me, providing I take the meds regularly AND make sure I do not eat too near bed time .. oh yes, and steer well clear of anything with MSG in it.

Speak to your mum jeleca - your only young at 17 - it needs checking out but don't scare unnecessarily yourself either. Lots of peoples hearts seem to skip a beat for no apperent reason, sometimes just "listening" to it intensely can make you think it skipping or jumping in our chest - we tend to hold our breath when we do this thinking we can hear better!

like I said speak to your mum, maybe get her to see if she can feel it and see what she thinks- if your still unhappy make an appointment with your GP :) - that's what they are there for
