Heat

yes it does that to me too... I cope better in cooler weather.

Mine have been higher than usual. However, I assumed that was only indirectly related to the heat: it is too hot for me to be running around in the gym. My usual exercise regime significantly lowers my basal requirements and without the exercise (apart from some walking) my BG is going up.

Yes @Jackie006 . I've just posted in a mainly type1 thread about insulin takers suffering unexpected hypos.

I'm having more highs than lows but I haven't taken extra insulin to treat my highs. If the weather continued I'd hope my body would naturally adjust or I would have been forced to increase my insulin.
A cooler day in the north-east today so bgs behaving, so far.

Thankyou I checked mine this morning it said hi never had that before I have got it down but so far no lower than 13 I did over eat a bit before bed but never had it that high apart from when I was diagnosed 3 years ago

Mine is doing both. High and low. I think when my insulin is warmer I get the lows and when I'm sitting in direct sun. Time to get the frio out!!

Our weather has been all over the place not just daily but hourly and my bs is too!!

Interesting question, it had been on my mind. I've been following a strict low carb, zero (ish) protein), low calorie regime for three weeks and the alarming BG all over the place while just low carb has now rectified itself and everything seems between 5.6 and 7 until this morning. Sudden jump to 12 which I can't explain, still at around 8 (15:00) and only had veg for lunch. Sorry, just remembered, I have a leg infection after going base over apex last Thursday, leg waited until today to swell up and go hot and red. GP who I managed to see at a moments notice prescribed antibiotics so infection is probable cause.

I bet a&e busy like winter due to asthma sufferers like myself is struggling too. Diabetes and asthma can be more risky but wishing everyone well.
Everyone.

Please keep hydrated even in not so hot days. Some posters who are type2 believes dehydration interferring with bgs.
They could be right.
I thought blood pressure up so sugar accumulating quicker in more stressful hours. (Lack of sleep for some too).
Stress definitely affects bgs.

Agree with the hydration (and stress) but particularly hydration. Got some advice myself from a forum member and so the last two days I have almost been drowning myself with water and BG are much more normal and this is the hottest day. Still a little higher but not alarmingly so.

Does anyone find that this heat causes sugar levels to rise mine were thru the roof this morning when I woke up

Quite the opposite, been unexpectedly dropping a few times over the last few days, woke to a bg level of 3.6 this morning

I seem to get a bit of both - found over past few days of horrendously hot weatther that I have had to increase my basal - as bs just keeps rising but reduce my bolus by almost half !!!??? - is this a common thing or am I just a 'special one?!?' lol:hilarious:

Yes the heat has an effect on sugar levels , and if you are lucky enough to get abroad in the heat it can be difficult !!
