Hello!
Is there a way to heat up tins fast and eat from the package?
I don't want to waste a plate.
thanks!

Microwave them in the opened tin for four or five minutes, be careful they will get hot...

Edited by Mod to add - Unless your microwave is suitable, don't try this option. It could be very dangerous indeed.

You’re not supposed to put tins in the microwave!

The metal may break your microwave. Just 'waste' a plate, how long does it take to wash one?

I have quite a posh microwave/combi thingy, and have a special gizmo to allow me to use metal during micro power. I've never used it (the gizmo) though

I just have a bog standard microwave and even a tiny bit of a foil lid left on the rim of a plastic pot gave me a startling firework display once! :wideyed:

I used to show the kids dvd coasters cooking off, in a old microwave we used to have. I will see if I can find the pix I took of the light show.

Hi,
No need to soil a plate!

.. Put contents in a bowl. "Ding", job done! ;)

Simply put cling film over the plate. Throw away cling film after eating.

  • as @Rachox suggested, use a paper plate, and of course - unless you choose to use your fingers - some disposable plastic cutlery
  • Beg, borrow or steal - or maybe even buy - a dog and get them to lick the plate and cutlery clean. One of mine is also regular and keen volunteer to prewash anything I put into the dishwasher - even after my huband has let him lick his plate clean already
  • Get a dishwasher ( which would also avoid any possible need for a doggy middleman)
  • But easiest of all, just eat out and save yourself the bother of buying, preparing/cooking as well as washing up

The advantage of plates/bowls over an interesting light display is that they don't have nasty stuff coating the inside of them, unless your tin looks like @Antje77's. I was always told that you shouldn't eat cold baked beans etc out of an open tin which has been stored in the fridge as the nasties leach into the beans, although thousands of students have lived to tell the tale. But I think @Robbity's idea of a dog is the best one as you also get free exercise thrown in.

Strangely. We have a Tupperware lid type thing, with a closable vent. (Bit like a saucepan lid?) for the rare occaision of a cook/reheat in a microwave..

As the OP has plenty of advice what to eat his tin of whatever on and with, when it has been heated by whatever method.

Here's another method of microwave cooking said tin of whatever, open the tin (you have to do this step anyway) and empty it into one of these Multix Microwave Steaming Oven Bags which should be available in the UK.

https://www.woolworths.com.au/Shop/...owave-steaming-oven-bags-resealable-20cmx20cm

Then the OP can eat it straight out of the bag, using fingers or utensil of choice, cleaning up is simple squash the can and put it into the bag and throw it in the trash.

Win Win situation...
