I have been a member of the forum since July 16 (cannot believe its that long). Husband is type II diabetic. Have struggled with control and weight issues all that time. Usual thing - dietary advice low fat and carbs, with meds increasing. Now up to 3 x Gliclazide and 2 x Metformin slow release. This is from the original two metformin. Seems that it is accepted as inevitable that you just get more and more meds until insulin....eventually complications etc.

I think the latest increase in meds has had an effect on my OH as we have been on the Newcastle diet since Boxing Day. A sudden change of heart (prompted by me) seems to have had a positive effect. I say Newcastle diet, it is an 800 calorie a day diet, and so far no real issues. Will hopefully document progress in the blog section.... OH has already stopped the additional Gliclazide.

So much amazing helpful advice here....look forward to participating more, and receiving any comments/help as we go.
