Hi my name is paul I'm 34 and i am a newly diagnosed type 2 (i think) diabetic..
I have been trying to control my diabetes by diet alone and apart from running quickly out of ideas for interesting meals, i am also starting to feel the tiredness creeping back again..
I would like some help from someone, anyone who can help me to understand why i am feeling tired again.. i haven't eaten anything high in sugar and i am keeping fat as far away from my diet as possible ie.. skinless chicken breast cooked in the oven with herbs and spices, turkey fillets done in the same way, tuna steaks (fresh) cooked in a dry griddle pan with light herbs and lemon juice etc, accompanied by sweet potatoes, fresh brocolli carrots peas cabbage parsnips etc and small amounts of new potatoes and other starchy carbs..
I have had some noodles which i have made in to stir fry with normal vegetables (not stir fry mixes) and adding a small amount of hoi sin or black bean sauce..
I am drinking only flavoured waters which have no sugar or carbs in them and have not had a sweet or chocolate pass my lips in over a month (a new serious record for me!)
for desserts i have replaced all the junk with fresh fruit portions and low fat low sugar yoghurt (not the thick and creamy type!)
I did start to feel much better after the initial change in diet, however for the last few days i have found that the tiredness is creeping back, i have also experienced some mild pains in my calf muscles recently.. :?
I do not sleep much, but then again i never have.I also work permanent nights as a driver..
My exercise level is very low, mainly due to feeling tired and work commitments.
what am i doing wrong? how can i get back to feeling more energetic again?
any help or advice from anyone with experience of diabetes will be received with extreme gratitude!
