Hello Cazza, Just want to say welcome and you are one hundred per cent justified in feeling the way you do - a heart attack and major surgery at such a young age! Type 2 diabetes is manageable. I was only diagnosed 3 months ago but have got my morning blood glucose level down to under 6 most mornings by reducing my carbohydrate intake - mostly restricting bread, potatoes, pasta, rice, porridge, breakfast cereals - and eating more protein rich foods. Get a meter and test yourself a one and two hour intervals after eating to see which foods raise your blood glucose and which don't. Some diabetics can tolerate carbohydrates well enough. I have read Patrick Holford's books on other subjects and I am suspicious of the huge amount of supplements he promotes, especially as he has his own brand of supplements and foods that are very expensive. Dr David Cavan's book 'Reverse Your Diabetes' is much more levelheaded and he is an Endocrinologist with a lot of experience in treating diabetes. Do go easy on yourself Cazza and take things one small step at a time, best wishes, Ellie
