I randomly came across this site and am now a new member. Type 1 diabetic for 15 years now. My second week on Medtronic pump 530G...it's definitely a change.

always nice to see a fellow T1 --i am waiting to go on a pump right now.

are you finding it helping with smoothing out and preventing the lows at all ??

Yes it's helping smooth out and preventing lows. My nurse is working with me closely adjusting my basal rates.
 
that's excellent to hear. my hypo recognition is patchy so my endo thinks the pump will help prevent some of the lows and soften more of the rest.

Will you be able to get a GMS with your pump? My training for that is this Tuesday. I think it will help because I don't even feel myself getting low until it's like 40 or 50. The GMS is suppose to send a signal to the pump and alert me of my lows.
 
No - CGM ( in the UK) is not normally funded by the national health service. you are in the USA ??
we can purchase the new optium freestyle libre system but it does not alarm in connection to the pump.
 
Yes I am in California near San Francisco. I know this is a UK site but I don't know of any US site like this one.
