Type 1

Diagnosed August 2014. with Type1.
When diagnosed my BG was 22. Was on insulin but sugars were dropping to low to fast after even 1unit of insulin so was advised to try diet control as could still be in the "honeymoon" stage. Got signed off from my diabetic centre October last year as was told managing well. So not seen any one other than the nurse to check my feet and do a blood test. So finding this site I thought would help as seem alone at mo as confused as 1 min so many nurse's/ Drs giving me so muchinfo then nothing.

Welcome,

I realize I have just asked you questions about your diagnosis without seeing this first, so don't feel you need to answer......lol.......

I wonder if you have Type 1.5 diabetes where the insulin cells are being destroyed, but just a lot slower and unpredictable than the usual type 1 mechanism........

has that term been mentioned by any of your doctors.........?

@catherinecherub has created this thread for you & your particular problems.

We cannot diagnose, & we cannot give specific advice without a lot more information, but it seems unlikely that you are T1, if your sugars go so low without insulin, having been so high at diagnosis.

How old are you?
Is there a family history of diabetes?
What did you eat before?
What do you eat now?

Hope we can help.

Hi there. I turned 40 September just gone. I am the 1st in my family to have diabetes. I ate my fruit and veg, crisps and chocolate, pastas, rice, couscous potatoes did always have a huge appetite, could eat a KFC bucket to myself but never put on weight. Now I basically eat the same as in veg and meats, just now eat hardly any sweets or crisps.
