Well I am 53, male and got diagnosed in 2017. Taking Metformin for now as I ignored it up until last month. From San Antonio Texas. I am using Accu-chek Guide Me with My sugar at wirelessly. I am experimenting with Dario but the All-in-one contraption is kinda harder to use than the Bluetooth from the Accu-Chek.
Both apps are great and the readings seem to be off no more than 3 points.

Hi Rick!

Gadgets. I love gadgets. I immediately feel compelled to check out the products you mention and experiment ;)

My only diabetes-related device so far is the blood glucose meter I was given by my diabetes nurse, a GlucoMen areo GK. It does come with an app and uses NFC to get recorded data to the phone. The app is a bit clunky but does allow notes to be recorded about each reading, such as whether is was before or after food or whatever. It also produces nice graphs but they're not useful if testing after food.

What I would really like is an app that separates fasting readings from those taken 2 hours after eating, so that I can get graphs of my baseline BG without distorting the graph with the after-eating readings. This would allow me to easily spot the effects of things like exercise on my baseline BG. I don't suppose mySugr has a function like that by any chance?
