Hello sorry to bother everyone well my neice is 4 and type 1 diabetic she was diagnosed in october 2012 anyway I was wondering how to make her feel like other kids on easter or occassions if this sounds correct sorry to sound dumb thank you

Hi. I guess the implication is that you want to avoid excess carbs? My grandson isn't diabetic but is milk intolerant and he loves my Green & Blacks 85% Dark Chocolate which is very low carb, so perhaps try to find a dark chocolate egg with low carbs or even just the bar of chocolate itself?

Hi Nina, I decided after being diagnosed that I wouldn't give my daughter, nephews or niece chocolate at Easter (though they do get some from elsewhere) - instead I developed a treasure hunt with clues and tasks with small (non-food) rewards which we do in a local park on Easter Sunday afternoon.

Now in its 6th year it's grown arms and legs and extended family and friends all come along for an afternoon of fresh air, fun and we finish with a healthy, low carb friendly, afternoon tea in the rugby club that's in the park followed by some board games. This year there will be about 50 of us of all ages. Rather than feel chocolate deprived the kids LOVE it and its become an annual family highlight filled with laughter. It's possible to make Easter not only NOT about chocolate but to do something that they remember for longer and boast to their pals about! :-)

Hi Nina, :)

Best have a quiet word with parents whats best, however I would go for a cuddly Easter toy which will hopefully please your niece.
