Hello!
I'm Samantha and i've just joined this site today (and posted something without doing an introduction first - oops!). I'm 26 years old and i've been a type 1 insulin dependent diabetic since I was 2 years old. I'm using novorapid 3 times a day and lantus once a day.
Honestly, I haven't really been taking it seriously the past few years and have unfortunately put on weight and my blood sugar levels are all over the place. I didn't really start noticing that things were wrong until I came on here one day. Someone had posted about their blood sugar being 15 and everyone was really worried because it was so high.......well mine was 26.7 that same day and it didn't even make me bat an eyelid.
So I am a new woman!! I've started keeping a record of my blood glucose levels and i've joined a gym to help me lose some weight. After doing lots and lots of research and panicing big time about the mess my diabetes is in, i'm looking into the GI diet to see if that might help. I really don't have a clue about foods and carbohydrate levels etc but i've ordered a GI book so hopefully it will help.
So i'll be on here everyday asking loads of questions and generally being a pain!!
I'm looking forward to being a member of the board.
Peace out
