hello just dx type 2

Hello Mrs Gimli. How are you going with the Metformin? I had a number of side effects at first, (light headedness stomach cramps) but these have settled down and have just left me with constipation. This is not listed as an "official" side effect but many people on this forum report it. Good luck and best wishes, Jack.

Recently diagnosed. Timetable so far. Diagnosed on 17 October. Saw Nurse 8 November. Commenced 4 x 500mg Metformin daily. Obtained SD Codefree monitor from amazon for £12.99 and commenced testing once daily on 14 December. Ordered 100 more test strips for £13.75, and from 21 December increased to 3 times daily. Have been referred to dietician for education. This is due on 14 January. Working on diet already, but will no doubt improve following education. Just learning really. Seems to be a lot to learn.

Hi, Please be careful listening to dieticians, they often dont know their ****** from their ******* hopefully yours will be good, im just saying dont take what your told as gospel, research it for yourself too

edit:: dunno why i **** out "elbows" lol

Hi I'm not doing to bad I have the light headed dizzy as well..so far no tummy trouble except feel slight sick now and then..have just got a place on a juggle course for febuary but the advice is so contradictery already..said I need some starch and more carbs ..(Did however say no suger he he)

I am glad things are going ok. I too was told to eat a portion of complex carbohydrate with each meal. Despite this, I have lost 4.5 stone in 7 months. My diebetic nurse made a tongue in cheek comment about Met. being the "slimming tablet". I have just eaten smaller portions with no pastries biscuits sweets and cakes. More significantly I have almost eliminated alcohol from my diet. I see nurse in a fortnight so I should find out how things are progressing then.

Hi well done on your weight loss that is fab. I'm none drinker so lucky there already. Did you go on a course and as yet I don't have a diabetic nurse at all.
