Hi,
I have just read this thread and my heart goes out to you.
I was diagnosed with t1.5 less then two weeks ago, no leaflets, just some pills and an appointment for the nurse in 3 weeks. But he's been our GP for years and knows i had the knowledge to cope. You see my father had t2 and my partner has been t1 for 35 years, since he was 10, you wouldn't think it if you saw him.
Saying all that, i have learned a few things on here, and thanks to my hubby and this forum my bg readings before meals are generally between 5.8 and 6.3, two hours post meal range between between 7.1 and 8.1, and i feel one hell of alot better.
You can lead a normal life, don't stress yourself, stress can effect your BG, diet and exercise are essential, walk, take your child to the park, all good. forget low fat processed foods (carbs often replace fat in these foods)
Diabetes is more a way of life than an illness, follow the simple rules and you will be fine, enjoy your life, but please tell your dad, get him to sign up to the forum, so he can learn with you.
