Hello Jan and welcome. This is the right place for you to find support, information and tips.
To answer your question. Yes. Stress is an important factor in blood sugar control and can play havoc with your levels.
You have been through a tough year with your husband, and are still going through the mill. I do hope things get much better for you both.
Maybe you could have a good look at your current diet and see if you can tweak it to help bring those levels down?
Hiwhat dose Diamicron/gliclazide are you on. perhaps the dr will raise your dose till this stress has passed.
have you increase the amount of carbs in your diet
Re= Carbs no not at all in fact my daughter is on a diet and I am supporting her by cuttting right back.Hi
I am on 60 mg of Diamicron once a day after eating,
Thank youhi, welcome
May be a silly question am I O.K. to drive ?
Not during the day LOL !!are you drunk?
That is something else I did not knowit's low BG where you can't drive...not your problem this month
I had and awful reaction to metaformin, severe runs, to the point I was pooing blood, stomach cramps, My Doc said I had a severe reaction to that medication, which he explained today, this is why he put me on 2 more gentle drugs. Said I had a very sensitive stomach. and should be a bit careful about over the counter medications as a lot are made to suit the average person. I have since being diagnosed with diabetes been very careful with food, I bake cakes for family and friends but very rarely try them myself, still at least others enjoy them.Hi. Yes, try to get the carbs down and talk to the doc about increasing the Diamicron. I assume the dosage is the same as it's UK equivalent Gliclazide and I was on the max of 320 mg/day for several years. Galvus is one of the Gliptins and should help with your diabetes. I was also on a Gliptin for a few years. As you are overweight I would have expected the doc to have put you on Metformin which does help reduce insulin resistance (I as also on that!). As others have said, stress does raise blood sugar but it's not permanent. I wish you well.
