Hi guys,
I'm 51 and was diagnosed with type 2 eight years ago. I was put on metformin, glicazide, pioglitozone, and until mid December last year everything seemed fine. I had a blood test and my reading was horrific, my nurse asked if I had stopped taking my medication. I was read the riot act.
I went on a diet, cutting out potatoes, pasta, sugar, most red meat, and went onto fish, chicken, and steak once a week with roasted veg. The weight has come off, and I am down to 18 stone, I'm 5'11" by the way.
Prior to dieting I had no symptoms, but now have foot and leg pain, and my fingers keep going numb.
My blood sugars have dropped considerably and I am trying to keep an even reading, although I am ranging from 3.8 at lowest to 14 at highest, most days I'm around 4 to 9
I don't understand why I'm now getting symptoms when I have lowered my blood sugars and not before.
I have also started swimming, to try and keep fit.
