Hello, Recently Diagnosed Type 1

Hello Guys!,

My name is Corey Lewis Aspin. My prefered name and what i'm known to be known as is 'Corey Lewis', I'm 17 and I am currently studying ICT in my first year at college.

I was recently (within the last month) diagnosed with Diabetes Type 1, Before I was diagnosed, I was constantly going to the toilet and had a dry throat alot and I just ignored it, after 2 weeks of thinking that it was nothing, I researched into it and I found out that I had Diabetes Type 1, but because of my huge phobia of needles, i refused to tell nobody and made it worse for myself, I had to be rushed up to hospital and for me to told that I was 12 hours of dying as my body had shut down. I was in hospital for over a week before I was sent home. I now have everything under control and have my blood sugar level (most of the time) between 4 and 6 with a few hypos every now and then.

Sorry if i've bored any of you :(

But thanks for reading..

I will be on here often, but if you would like to talk to me elsewhere I have:

Hi Corey I too have recently been diagnosed as type 1 diabetic, 2 weeks ago so a little less than you, bloods and trygliceride levels high along with 1.5 ketones but by the sounds of it still not as bad as you was.

Glad to hear your feeling better and that you've got the bloods mostly under control now. I'm still getting there with mine, down to between 6 and 9 most of time but had a couple of hipo's over the last week. dealing with them quickly is the key isn't it.

I'm sure we'll both find lots of help on here as we look to the future with the t 1.

best of luck.
