A massive thank you to everyone on this forum for the insight to both social media & diabetes - both new for me. The support you all give each other is amazing & I have found so many answers over the last couple of weeks that have helped me adjust to a new way of life. I now realise I've probably had diabetes for a while but finally went for a blood test when I couldn't drink enough for the pee coming out the other end! My HbA1c was 113. I'd never felt better though & was full of energy. Looking back after reading other stories, any other symptoms I was putting down to the menopause. I got to see a nurse within a week & was straight on the insulin.
I've found myself a little app that is showing my average BG over the couple of weeks since starting to monitor is 10.8 but with 26 hypers. I'm a little impatient to get BG down but I suppose need to wait for the professional advice as I see that my insulin must be insufficient for the amount I eat. I've not got my carb counting book yet & assume my portion control must be poor. I am finding the weeks of advised inactivity frustrating & have snuck the odd bike ride & walk in. Might even stand in goals for netball this evening if my eyes don't let me down with the driving.
V bad UTI - I assume as a result of no longer being so thirsty but still high BG & watery blurred vision have been my issues. The advise about using the ready readers for long distance has worked but gives me a headache if I do it for too long.
This is probably way too long for a post if I've even got it in the right place but I'll learn. I like the emo things but they're a bit small to chose
looks OK.
