Hi there, just getting used to the site. I'm not diabetic, but have recently found out I have a fatty liver...so worried. I have read lots of stories and experiences on here so thought it the best place to be.

Hi there. Have a read around and see if it sounds useful.

Hi there, just getting used to the site. I'm not diabetic, but have recently found out I have a fatty liver...so worried. I have read lots of stories and experiences on here so thought it the best place to be.
NAFLD is untreatable, according to the specialist I saw. Said I'd have cirrhosis of the liver soon, so to be prepared to get back in touch should the pain get worse. I'm just sorry I didn't have to come back to see him, because my liver's just fine now. :) Would have loved to see the look on his face with my current test results! I went low carb/high fat, and shifted to keto later on (Which is a little more extreme than LCHF). Takes a little while, but it does improve, and not just a little either. (Also, your cholesterol'll go up for a while, but that's your liver shedding what's been stored there. If it shows up in your bloodstream, that's good, as it is on its way OUT! :) ).

https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/blog-entry/the-nutritional-thingy.2330/ is geared to T2's, but basically all the same stuff goes for NAFLD. You could also check dietdoctor.com and The Obesity Code by Dr. Jason Fung. (You don't have to be obese to have NAFLD, but the same methods apply.)

Good luck!

I have a fatty liver...so worried.

Don't be, I've had NAFLD for many years and my liver function was wrecked after taking a prescription drug called Rosiglitazone, now withdrawn from the UK market because of it's effects on the liver.
My annual liver function test has given results that show the condition can improve.
More recently I have had a scan of my liver which has shown that it looks perfectly normal, I'm sure my low carb diet has helped a lot.
