Hi everyone,

I'm Neil, 32 from central scotland. I was diagnosed type 2 diabetic a little over 3 years ago but managed to keep it mostly under control. Over the last year it's taken on a life of its own and has my all over the place. I've tried a few different meds and am currently taking Glucophage(sp) slow release. I started with one 500mg pill in the morning and have now built up to 2 pills twice a day. The problem is I am still not feeling any better.

Increasing frequency of muscle weakness and pain, dizzy spells, breathlessness and what I can only describe as symptoms of poor circulation and really bad fatigue. I am still recovering(so they say) from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome so it's difficult to tell what is what.

I am looking forward to having a look around the place and getting some tips.

Thanks for reading,

Neil

Hello Neil,

Are you on any other meds?
Is your blood pressure OK?
What are your BG readings?
What was your last HbA1c?
Have you been tested for DKA?
Are all your liver and kidney functions OK?

The symptoms could be diabetes related, but equally they may not.
Some medications produce these side effects.
Some other conditions that we T2s can get can give similar symptoms.

Your Doc. is your best way forward, I would make some notes, and make a double appointment.
You might want to take some BG and blood pressure readings with you.
Ask for a print out of any test results and ask for an explaination of anything that you don't understand.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I am taking Omeprazole 40mg and have been for a little over 2 months. Doc advised it for stomach issues, I'd rather they did some sort of tests to be honest, but went with it. That's it for the tablets.

My liver tests have always been high, had a scan done a few years ago which showed a fatty liver, but the specialist seemed happy enough that it was working ok.

BG readings vary between 6 & 10, they took some time to find a med that worked with me, at least I hoped the Glucophage was working...not sure what DKA is?

Seeing a doc today, not my usual one which brings it's own problems, but we'll see how it goes.

Thanks.

Neil
