I am sorry that I must begin with a serious question, and in the presence of all other serious questions here, I am rather embarrassed to post this, but, I am desperate! I have recently been properly diagnosed as having type two diabetes; with this I have other medical conditions which makes things rather complicated. For the past nine years I have been in a very enervating and complex situation with the Government. Since contracting diabetes, I have felt very much worse. Amongst my medical conditions, I have M.E; I am also rather housebound. How serious is type two diabetes, from the aspect of one who is already quite ill, and also experiencing high stress levels? Also, I can often become rather baffled and confused by cooking etc; (I am not really supposed to cook) and personal management of my diet, would be too confusing to maintain. The government infer that if I have a medical specialist write a report, confirming how serious my medical conditions(s) is/are; this will be enough for me not to lose my carer. In my experience, few doctors, at any level, are willing to become involved with the government. I have attempted to keep this brief, but I am rather in despair. Some aspects of this I cannot state here, though I could answer less general questions, via p.m.,

Kind Regards

John

Hi John,
Sorry to hear of your ongoing problems.
Are you saying that your GP has refused to write a report for you in order to keep your carer?
Is the funding you receive classed as Disability Living Allowance/Care's Allowance or is it some other benefit?
Sorry to ask personal questions but in order for others to answer we need to know a bit more about your situation.

Dear Catherinecherub,

Thank you for your kind response. I may have confused matters somewhat. I am glad to say that the benefits etc; situation, is as well as can be. I am sure that my (new) GP; would happily write a supporting letter; however, the government, has asked for the supporting evidence of a medical specialists, regarding my various conditions.I need to know how serious type two diabetes is. and if the stress can make things a good deal worse. Such a letter could make all the difference. Otherwise, I will lose my carer. He came here as my student, nine or so yrs ago (I was a professional pianist) My medical conditions became worse, he refused to leave me so ill. thus he became an overstayer. Meantime, we were assured by the local MP that she would help, and they would be in contact. Eventually, after no contact, they stated that sorry, they had forgotten us; by then, it was too late, as we had assumed that the Mp was dealing with our case. All rather unpleasant, and, as I wrote, very enervating. I cannot lose my carer, who is also a great friend to me, and I am such a private person (history of childhood abuse) I cannot easily accept a stranger to care for me.

Please forgive, as I am rather easily confused, and I realize I must be clutching at straws. I have spent a small fortune on a specialist solicitor, but nothing seems to have been done, and the money (from a small trust fund) is no longer guaranteed, as it was not meant for these purposes.

I realize this is a difficult one, but any advice would be good!

Kind Regards

John
