Hello Jexy and welcome, everyone is gentle.you only have to ask and someone will answer.

Hi Jexy...we're always gentle :)

Can't really offer much advice as I'm new to this, but I'll give you a wave :p

Hello Jexy. The forum is brilliant. Have you been to the motor museum at Newby Bridge in the Lakes? They have a section devoted to your Tt hero John. They have film of him riding too. :)

Hi there and welcome.

I'm new too so great to see you on here.

Take it easy.

Hello Ian. Welcome. Are you newly diagnosed too? It is a really good site with lots of people with knowledge and first hand experience. :)

Hi there,

I was diagnosed as type 2 in early June during a spell in hospital. To be honest I found it a relief as I thought I had been so for a while. It's been an empowering process for me in that I'm now taking so much more control over my life i.e. diet and exercise etc. Plus, I've lost two and a half stone ( I was a big ****** to begin with!).

Onwards and upwards.

Wow thats a fantastic weightloss!! Well done. I was diagnosed 3 weeks ago and put on metformin. Ive started a low carb. I hope I can shift some weight :)

I can't seem to get the weight off can any off you suggest anything

How much carb are you having? I'm just asking because I found it hard too, but since switching to lower carb high fat diet, the weight is finally coming off. There's loads of posts on the forum about LCHF diet - if you haven't seen them yet, you might like to have a read. It may not work - or even be an acceptable lifestyle - for everyone, but it's working well for me and others.

I dont think of it as a diet as I am not looking to lose weight but I have lost nearly a stone since June,my blood sugar has come down ,It was 5.2 this morning used to be in the 8s or 9s.
I just think of it as eating food that is good for me
On the other hand I went to school after the war years,we were fed a lot of bread and potatoes and I dont recall a over weight person in my school, they were no fast foods or ready meals.
